The Roche-à-Bateau festival inaugurated in 2004. Both rural and urban festivals, the festival offers real opportunities for encounters and reunions. in an atmosphere that brings us closer to our traditional community life.
Presented annually on the last weekend of July, the festival takes place in the enchanting setting of lush nature of rare authenticity. Indeed, despite years of relentless deforestation and cyclones which have severely affected the flora and fauna of the region, Roche-à-Bateau has retained its charm and this inviting freshness which distinguish it from other municipalities in the region.
On the occasion of the festival, the city dresses up in its beautiful clothes to welcome hundreds of festival-goers who arrive from all over the region and from the most remote urban areas. The festival offers various activities that call for constant interaction with the population: sporting competitions (foot-ball, races in canoes, horses, bicycles, foot races), folk-type competitions (rara, Pingue or Greco-Roman wrestling). local, traditional dances ...), shows and recreational activities, presentation of plaques of honor to citizens and benefactors of the municipality and dance evenings hosted by groups lighthouses of Haitian popular music. Previous editions have indeed seen musical groups that have attracted many festival-goers from the region and who have all remained marked by the welcome they received from the public of the region and the legendary hospitality of the people of Roche- to-Boat. Thus, over the editions of the festival, we have received the visit of the Tropicana Orchestra, Septentrional, Mizik Miik, Hang Out and Kreyòl la for the last edition.
